This nice coastal town is very close to Bristol. Portishead has a long history as a fishing port. With its piers, a lighthouse, and some really nice stretches of beach, it's always worth a short visit. Even more due to some of its most famous citizens: the band Portishead.
Portishead formed in 1991 and are often considered one of the pioneers of Trip Hop music. The band around its members Geoff Barrow, Beth Gibbons, and Adrian Utley is named after their home town. Their debut album, Dummy, was met with critical acclaim in 1994 with their music being influenced by a wide range of singers and composers.
