Ran from 1968 to 1971, Mothers in Erdington was the ultimate hippie venue. More than 400 acts performed there, many of whom went on to greater success, such as Fleetwood Mac, Steppenwolf, Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, Skid Row, Elton John, Black Sabbath, The Who, and Led Zeppelin.
On their album Ummagumma, Pink Floyd released several tracks that were live recorded on 27 April 1969 at the venue. The setlist from the evening can be seen here. Mothers was even voted number one Rock venue in the world by America's Billboard magazine. Take a picture of the Blue Plaque that was unveiled at the former Mothers building on 13 July 2013 honouring this award.
