Lake Havasu with Lake Havasu City is an oasis-like mirage in the surrounding dry desert. Looking around, you will discover impressive ragged mountain ranges such as Needle Mountains, making you feel like being in Patagonia. Whereas the architecture and nearer landscape tells you that Mexico isn't far.
The city itself offers an abundance of holiday amenities with loads of summer homes and mansions around. Turquoise water reservoir Lake Havasu is a perfect refreshment on a hot day.
Stop at the Bill Williams River National Wildlife Refuge in the south to learn about animals and plants of the area. More than 20 different species of snakes live around here. The Mojave Green Rattle Snake is one of them, along with scorpions or more harmless companions such as the Common Buckeye Butterfly or small turtles. Domestic plants include various cacti and thornbushes or Desert Lavender.
