Ready for a day trip into the wilderness? Death Valley National Park is northwest of Las Vegas, occupying a zone between the arid Great Basin and Mojave deserts. With its diverse environment of salt-flats, sand dunes, badlands, valleys, canyons, and mountains, Death Valley is the hottest, driest, and lowest of all the national parks in the United States. The second-lowest point in the Western Hemisphere is in Badwater Basin, which is 86 metres below sea level.
Reminded of U2, when around? Yes, that's correct. Visit Zabriskie Point - the location which was used for the cover shot of Irish super-group's fifth studio album The Joshua Tree.
It was also a Joshua Tree that was shot for the cover sleeve of the same album. The tree photographed for the sleeve fell around 2000. But reportedly, the coordinates of the former place of the tree are N36 19.851 W117 44.715.
