Sightseeing combined with shopping: Victoria Quarter is a centrally located upmarket shopping area comprising numerous luxury stores and delicious food options for a little break from sightseeing. Marvellous County Arcade and Cross Arcade will provide a unique shopping experience.
The compound was built around 1900 and was designed by architect Frank Matcham. Originally it included the Empire Palace Theatre, which was demolished in the 60s. The interiors of the arcades contain a number of wonderfully coloured mosaics and plentiful use of elegant marble. Victoria Quarter was restored between 1989 and 1996, with a coloured glass roof being erected.
