Magnificent Liverpool Town Hall is reportedly one of the finest 18th century town halls in Britain still existing. It was built between 1749 and 1754 and designed by John Wood the Elder. Nowadays, an outstanding example of late Georgian decoration.
But there's a Rock story hidden behind these walls - four days after the world premiere of the Beatles first film which was A Hard Day’s Night, the guys visited Liverpool on 10 July 1964. After being welcomed by about 3,000 fans at the airport (at that time, they all were living in London already), they did some interviews before heading to Town Hall. At this very place, around 200,000 people had come together to see their favourite band which impressively was about a quarter of the city's total population at that time. After an official reception with meal, they drove to nearby Odeon Cinema for the northern premiere of their film.
