Just around the corner from Ringo Starr’s birthplace on Madryn Street is the Empress Pub. His mother Elsie even worked here as a barmaid. Direcly next to the pub is Admiral Grove, where he lived from the age of six.
Ringo later paid tribute to this local pub in his first ever solo album, Sentimental Journey as he used it on the front cover. Also to be seen on the cover: Ringo’s relatives. Today, a message above the entrance tells about this story.
Spend some time in here enjoying some proper pub food or drinks.
