This Islington based pub was one of the starting points of the brief, yet strong Pub Rock phenomenon in the mid-70s. With the decline of this movement, the pub went on to become a leading venue in the Punk Rock scene.
Famous artists that have graced its stage include the likes of The Ramones, U2, Dire Straits, The Clash, and The Cure as well as Joy Division (with their debut London gig in 1978) and Keane (with his debut gig in 1998).
