The Roxy was an iconic night club located at 41–43 Neal Street in Covent Garden, known for hosting the upcoming British Punk scene in its infancy. When it opened, it was the only venue in the city of London dedicated to promoting and supporting Punk music from 1976 to 1978 and renowned for launching the musical careers of several inspiring punk bands including The Clash, The Heartbreakers, The Police, Generation X, The Buzzcocks, and The Slits.
The anarcho-punk band Crass featured The Roxy as the subject of one of their most well known tracks, Banned from the Roxy. Listen to the track here.
On Tuesday, 25 April 2017, a memorial plaque was unveiled, marking the former site of The Roxy.
