The Boardwalk night club was one of Manchester’s most iconic live music venues in the late 80s and early 90s. Located on Little Peter Street it hosted acts like Oasis and other local bands for their live debuts.
The Stone Roses and Happy Mondays were among those playing the opening night in 1986. The Charlatans were also regular visitors while the venue also saw acts including Sonic Youth, The Verve, and Rage Against The Machine.
Oasis even played here 8 times in total with their first ever live gig on 18 August 1991.
The club closed in 1999 before being converted into modern city apartments. A small blue plaque outside the former venue pays tribute to this legendary place.
