Manchester Cathedral, formally known as the Cathedral and Collegiate Church of St Mary, St Denys and St George, is seat of the Bishop of Manchester and situated in the very city centre.
The main body of the building has been erected in Perpendicular Gothic style with James Stanley being responsible for commissioning the late-medieval wooden furnishings. The medieval church was mainly refaced, restored and extended during the Victorian period. After bomb damage in the 20th century, Manchester Cathedral was once again restructured.
