The collection of Alte Pinakothek encompasses more than 700 artworks from the 14th to the 18th century. Milestones of European painting from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance and Baroque by the likes of Dürer, Raphael, El Greco, or Rembrandt can be discovered. The building was erected by Leo von Klenze between 1826 and 1836 in Neoclassical style.
One of the masterpieces behind these walls is The Fall of the Damned, a monumental religious painting by Peter Paul Rubens. You may know this from the album cover of Reverence, sixth studio album by the Australian Heavy Metal band Parkway Drive.
